Yes, Cuba's incarceraton rate is still v high, one of highest in the world. But still significantly less than US.
-
looks like Cuba has hyperincarceration? Are Afro Cubans locked up at even higher rates?
-
I'd be surprised if that weren't the case. Please reread 1st clause of my TW if you think I'm lauding Cuba.
-
wasn't thinking that. Prison abolitionist here, wondering about colorism in Cuban context.

Source? (Just curious, I’m a data engineer, also a little dubious of things I read on the internet these days :) )

Just plucked off Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_incarceration_rate … Another good ranking here: http://www.prisonpolicy.org/global/

Thank you!

@absinthol US has 5% world population, 25% world prison population. 1 out of every 31 Amer in prison, on parole or probation. -
For black Americans, it's 1 in every 9.
-
True, largely due to different treatment re drug war. Tougher sentences for same behavior as whites.

I wouldn't call it that either. Maybe if execute a bunch of people when you take over it lowers the crime rate.
