Time to re-read RH's The Worldly Philosophers, I think. It had a huge influence on me in becoming interested in the history of economic thought and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a very friendly & engaging general audience book on the topic

I took a history of econ thought at the New School in '97 taught by RH himself… he was so old, and it was hard to hear his words even sitting right next to him, but he was a lovely man and his broadly accessible book historicized something that was in dire need of historicizing

The Worldly Philosophers is a wonderful book, if for the Schumpeter anecdotes alone.
