Just curious, how is insulin not in the public domain at this time and, if it is generic, why is it so expensive?

Insulin in commercial form has been available since the 1920's, however it is still protected from wide generic distribution by our patent laws. 'Greening' making slight improvement to insulin by Pharma Co's keep the patent extended for now 100 years. Legal execution for profit.
