I suppose we should be glad she didn't call the police on us (and didn't know we also let them walk to school on their own...another scandal).
-
They walk to school alone in PALO ALTO!?
-
Yes, it's a risk in a changing community: recently some physicians have moved in who work in primary care rather than a specialty, also lawyers who haven't made senior partner -- it's a minefield, but we want our children to learn survival skills.

When they get a photo and a text saying "This abandoned child is dying of heat in a car" or somesuch, they pretty much have to respond (think of the outcry if they didn't). The trend of shaming people who try to use police to enforce their petty judgments is salubrious.
-
The shame-the-shamers is salubrious! But what about police showing up to the scene and instead of pressing charges just talking with the parent, informing them that a concerned neighbor called? I expect this happens all the time already; it should happen more.
-
Agreed. I would also like them to talk to the person who called and tell them to take 911 off of their speed dial.
