Thank you to everyone who voted for, and supported our candidates in the local elections. Results show there’s real demand for our focus on hyper-local issues, and community engagement. Congratulations to , the only non-Conservative to win a seat in Cannock Chase.

Graphic with a bright lilac background with left-aligned quoted text in black which reads: "When some local authorities have very few women elected as councillors, or even no women at all, it is important to consider whether local authorities consider the impact of gender in their work, how this is done, and the difference that this can make to the community." If ever I needed your help it is now. The government is not placing any importance on extending the power to hold virtual meetings. I need you to tell me and your MP why this is important. Local democracy is the foundation of our society and virtual meetings make that happen.

I f**king hate tribalism, in what ever form, political, national, racial or religious. I know it’s helps some people by giving them a sense of belonging but it is ultimately destructive. It demands an ‘other’ to vilify or persecute and it inevitably makes hypocrites of us all.

I remember being told I wasn’t entitled to paid leave, because my daughter died a few days short of 24 weeks. My grief and pain was utterly dismissed because of an arbitrary line. This move will make a real difference: I hope it’s swiftly adopted globally.
