Better on a personal level, or better for working with other people on with your team?

ideally both!

Personal: actually shower, dress well, have breakfast, read or go for a walk or workout, before starting your day. Team: Move to video call the moment chat gets hard in any way whatsoever.

1 of 2: “Brady bunch it” for team meetings. If some of the team members are collocated, make the communication playing field level. Have everyone on their own computer looking at their own camera. It helps everyone be seen and feel equally involved.
-
2 of 2: make team check-ins succinct and sacred. We all attend as frequently as we’ve all agreed. Everyone talks. Cadence depends on the size of the team, velocity of the project, and how much affinity / relationship everyone has. I like 2-3 times per week.

Weekly, not daily standup. Getting rid of an office. A company meetup every 6 months. Team/project meetup every few months. Making every one read Remote by Basecamp. If someone isn’t on board with remote, offer a terrific severance and let them go.
