The first person I came out (at age 18) to told me, “don’t go out and catch AIDS.”
Earlier tonight, I came out to someone. While out on a walk, this guy accused me of using my dog to hit on his girlfriend. I told them that my husband would find such an accusation hilarious.

I do sincerely hope Lunkhead #2 was mortified by his accusation. And I’m *certain* he apologized for being a Lunkhead, yes?

He acted sheepish while she laughed/clapped at him - it was funny, and I think he learned a gentle lesson about assuming..

-
But also, you have a really beautiful dog.

-
Jenny, that would have been my “to be fair...” response, as well. The dog is gorgeous, and I would be gushing over it. It wouldn’t be the first time nor the last. (I never approach dogs without human approval first.)

You two are being watched by so many gay youth and teens who weren’t sure there was a place in the world for them. Thankyou for bravely telling them yes.

-
As a psych nurse, I can PROMISE YOU, these wonderful kids need to know there is a life waiting for them. Some families accept, some do not. It is painful to see the kids who do not have family support.
-
Thank you for what you do, Chriztee. My son
@Jacob54005479’s first visit to the@SacLGBTCenter was eye opening for him. He met several homeless teens, as well as some whose parents were determined to believe their kids were “going through a phase.” My heart breaks for all of them -
Your son seems pretty awesome, to me. Must be genetic. ;)

My daughter came out almost 2 years ago. I had no idea. Last year she asked if I would be the 1 to take her to her first Pride. My 1st time also. I love her deeply. They say you aren’t suppose to be their friend but she’s my best friend.pic.twitter.com/gVZDQ8mMOM

You are both beautiful. You both are so lucky to have each other. I wish her so much love and light in her life!

I’m sorry that it is this way. I hate that our society is more accepting of who we hate than who we love. I have to believe that it won’t always be like this. Love to you both.
-
... “our society is more accepting of who we hate than who we love.” << that’s one powerful truth bomb.
-
Thank you. I’ll never understand it and it breaks my heart.

I think that maybe it was here, but not like this. #45 has given permission to the marginal and mentally unstable in the world to come out from hiding.
#Buttigieg for #46. -
Exactly. They follow his lead but it was there beforehand.

I’m from Indiana. I went to prom with a friend from youth group
When he tried to come out, our pastor referred him to conversion therapy. When he did come out
his family rejected him. We lost him to suicide 7 years ago. What you are doing is so important. Thank you.

This is why it bothers me when people try to underplay the importance of Pete being gay.

It’s a hard line to walk... I think a lot of American moderates are over identity politics and we gotta do what we gotta do to get the orange monster to go bye bye.
-
The thing about being "over" identity politics is that it isnt "over" for the people affected. That feeling among moderates is cynicism and is a decision to ignore systemic problems because they've decided their tired of hearing about it. Cynicism is what makes ppl skip voting.
