A good job to pay all that back is obviously no guarantee as we have seen. Uncle Sam may as well take that L. People have been set up to fail honestly.

Exactly and it took me over 4 years to accumulate that mf. Why do I only get 6 months after I graduate to get my shit together?

18 year old me: i don’t want to go to college, but my mom is kicking me out if i don’t go, i don’t know what i want to be, and i can’t afford it Great Lakes Student Loans Services:pic.twitter.com/1gvgwlyjN2

The fact that I know a lot people that were in that situation is alarming

Capitalism’s role in the education system is disgusting at every level
-
Yeah unfortunately capitalism for education, but for too-big-to-fail banks and car manufacturers it was socialism

Can people stop with this nonsense. If you take out a loan you have to pay it back, welcome to adult life. No one forced you to take out a loan it was an option you agreed to.
-
Let’s also talk about alternatives. All education costs money. Folks can’t get good jobs without a degree mostly. And degrees are expensive. So now what?
-
There are basic retail jobs that provide tuition reimbursement for example. Community colleges are affordable, but the problem is kids want the college experience that they see on tv so they take loans out to attend expensive universities they can’t afford
-
What entry level retail jobs offer tuition reimbursement? I’ll be amazed if you can name 5 nationwide.
-
McDonald's, Chipotle, FedEx, Walmart, UPS, Starbucks, Home depot, AT&T, Ford, Wells Fargo, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Chic Fila, T mobile, Lowe's, Pepsi, Coke, Macy's, Target, Verizon, Nike, KFC......I think you get the point.
-
I worked at a retail place that offered tuition reimbursement (at select universities): if I worked full time for five years. Only managers (aka not entry level) were full time.
-
There are companies that offer full benifits after 90 days of being a full time employee. Search for jobs that benefit you instead of jobs that are just easygoing and fun
-
Yo. Do you understand how hard it is to be full time in school and work? Esp competing against other students who do not have to work? You're pushing 18 yr olds to have 80+ hour weeks for four years. That's not sustainable and many fall apart.

I’m tired of y’all claiming that students are irresponsible or that they should’ve known. It completely ignores the fact that the whole system is set up for us to fail in the first place. I guarantee you there are a number of students who did their research and knew how much debt
-
Our fault for doing what the hell the system told us to do?? And then if someone chooses not to go to college, y’all will find a way to shame them too so either way we can’t win. Or that person doesn’t go to college and they can’t get the jobs they want. And truth be told degrees
