Having a clear through. Anyone remember these glorydays of BBC Micro gaming?! 'Elite' 3D seemed a missive from distant future back then. Doom (the game) still years off... who'd'a thought these happy days would lead to #CambridgeAnalytica-gate. #feelingoldpic.twitter.com/oP5IfyHoi5

Ah, You missed what I'd say is the most playable game per byte EVER - Zelda for the 8-bit NES. At the time, it seemed the Lord of The Rings of games! Played recently & still surprisingly compelling (Or maybe its the nostalgia)pic.twitter.com/6DBW2oGJia

I just remember my brother playing The Castle of Riddles - a text adventure game. It was just a screen of text but everyone in the family was into it

Its amazing how exciting a screen of lumpy pixellated text could be.

It's really hard to explain to kids today what computer games in 1980s were like and how much fun they were at the time.

The whole concept of controlling something on a screen felt like some crazy witchcraft! Inordinately exciting. And the imagination had to work quite hard around the pixels too..

And the more you got into the world of the game, the more it made sense. Found the same with books, languages & friendship.
