What remains the issue with the New Doc Vague idea is that it needs a firmer critical basis to make complete sense. http://to.pbs.org/14erXIE
@DocSoupMan @prewarcinema okay, then which was the most important scene that was missing? (Not attacking, trying to understand)

@CharlotteCook@DocSoupMan I think he means the end. But the film is not vague. It uses TV news to give context, for christ's sake. -
@prewarcinema@CharlotteCook i've gone offline so as not to blow it for those who haven't seen what's one of the best docs in 2013. -
@DocSoupMan@CharlotteCook In Tom's defense, he *likes* a lot of these movies and is excited about the form. We shouldn't forget that. -
@prewarcinema@DocSoupMan I don't, and I respect Tom a great deal. It's this idea of the "New Doc Vague" as a movement in general.

@CharlotteCook@DocSoupMan Ambiguity and subtlety does not equal vague. -
@prewarcinema@CharlotteCook not by definition, but it can lead to it. W et al. used ambiguity to present what they saw as true. (WMD) -
@DocSoupMan@prewarcinema I'm not sure I agree with you though. I think we're heading down the truthiness black hole with this. -
@CharlotteCook@DocSoupMan Having a movie character (even a doc character) lie on camera doesn't equal having a president lie to go to war. -
@prewarcinema@DocSoupMan It depends on how you determine a lie? Perception and experience factor. Was lying part of the vague thing too? -
@CharlotteCook@DocSoupMan I just mean EVEN IF WE HAD PEOPLE COMPLETELY LIE ON CAMERA it does not equal W lying about WMD. Period. -
@prewarcinema@DocSoupMan Where has this come from? -
@CharlotteCook@DocSoupMan I find Tom's comparison of ambiguity in a movie to W's murderous lies very troublesome, that's all.
