I heard that he wasn't a declared candidate at the time they had the invites and by the time he declared, the slots were full. Is that true as well?

I don’t know— but I know that he is taking off all campaign events for the next few days to mourn his dad
-
Thanks for letting us know.
-
His campaign tells me that he was invited, but can't attend because of the memorial.
-
Thanks for clarifying it with the campaign.

I feel like a lot of people are being snotty bc his father died in January & the memorial service is now. It is virtually impossible to bury someone in the winter in places where the ground freezes. It is very normal to have spring summer services when the dead are laid to rest

Yes, and a Spring service has been planned since shortly after he passed. It’s appalling that anyone would think he’d use it as an excuse - I’ve just seen multiple comments saying similar.https://www.abc57.com/news/services-announced-for-joseph-buttigieg …
-
Sorry for the miscommunication-- I truly didn't mean to be snotty. I only mentioned that his father died in January so that people wouldn't think he died yesterday or last week. You're right, it's perfectly normal to have a service later
-
You were just fine - it’s too many others who’ve been remarkably rude/insensitive about it.

Criticizing how people grieve and commemorate....ok!

Sorry, I truly wasn’t criticizing. I only mention that he passed in Jan so people wouldn’t think he passed last week. You’re right that it’s very normal to have a memorial later.

I saw him on campus today. It was a very small service only for English dept people. Many of us would have gone otherwise.
-
He had lunch in the more informal ND restaurant, where I was also having a working lunch. In a v Midwestern way, we all pretended we couldn't see him.
-
You captured that well. That way we “don’t see someone.”

We the ppl ain’t missing nothing

Classy

He just said in a town hall on CNN that he’s not going to drown us with policy minutia ..... ummm, no policy no need to be there.

-
He's officially been in the race for less than two weeks, he's got time.
-
No one said anything about him not having time. He said out of his own mouth that’s he’s not going to be releasing too much policy.
-
I saw him explaining that he'd planned on getting into policy details in May, and that the campaign had taken off a bit faster than expected. Pretty sure his strategy was that the first few weeks were getting to know him, then heavy into policy.
-
He is a troll. Ignore him. He is all over the place. We have more important things to do to support Pete.
-
Exactly. We have deplorables in our own party (if this troll is even a Democrat)
