    12 January marks 800 days since Jagtar Singh Johal was hooded, abducted & then tortured in India. Despite numerous calls from the UN, the UK govt, medical experts & Jagtar’s family, India continues to ignore the well-founded claims of torture in his case.

    While this is an incredibly disappointing outcome, the UK must continue to investigate and prosecute universal jurisdiction cases. If someone suspected of torture is in the UK, often the only hope the victims have for justice is through a British court.

    There's been no accountability whatsoever for alleged war crimes by British forces in Iraq & Afghanistan. NGOs have called on UK political leaders to act to ensure justice for victims.
