Plus as WOC, we get paid less than many others for the same work. That's unfair and not right. We have to negotiate, not just for ourselves but also on behalf of all people of color, to make sure we all get paid what we deserve.

Yes to this! Plus, the negotiation skills you demonstrate during the salary conversation are part of the skill set & value u bring to the job/employer. So any employer who balks at a salary negotiation is bad at business or a place u don't want to work for

Teachers, I’m thinking that we should get puppies instead of guns for two reasons: 1. They are great for helping students relieve stress and anxiety. 2. Congress would actually do something if anything happens to one of them in school.

Big props to the speakers and moderator, Christine Beckman, for keeping it real on diversity/inclusion. Representation matters. “A room full of white men, even if they are welcoming, can sometimes come off as not as open to people of color or marginalized ppl.’ That’s true

Diversity and inclusion is not just something to not get sued. It should be baked into the DNA, be in the beginning of a company, says Andy Shallal

It's better to be inclusive, let women and people of color know their voices matter by having them as speakers. If one submits a proposal and maybe it's not quite what u wanted, I say let's work together on it to make it more applicable to conf, rather than simply reject it.

Yes, to this! Also, conf organizers, pls don't say women or people of color don't submit proposals. We do & they don't get picked sometimes. That's not our fault. 'Dude, you have an all-male conference. Time to make room for women.' via
