as someone who was a Nintendo head and missed out on 15 yrs of xbox/playstation gaming, seeing video game trailers that imitate the language of major motion pictures is still shocking. I totally get it, truly. But sometimes I'm like, I thought games had their own visual language

and i'm not saying this is bad at all. It RULES how weird and different video games are now. The fact that games now have *genres*, both in storytelling and aesthetic, is beyond what I could've dreamed of when I first stepped on a milk crate in the arcade to play Gauntlet
