Off the coast of Normandy? That's the Normandy that's in France ... right? Forgive my ignorance of fishing policy but I thought the issues were about foreign boats fishing in UK territorial waters...not the other way round. #confused

The French government doesn't allow scallop fishing by the French fisherman until October. The UK fisherman apparently don't have that restriction. It's stirring deliberately to bolster brexit.

If UK fishermen are permitted to harvest scallops here over a longer timescale than their French counterparts, and without quotas, does this not demonstrate the very fact that Europe is not a "one size fits all" organisation. Are the UK boats the bigger, more "industrial" craft?

So the British can fish off the French coast all year round and the French can not.

It’s Britain’s waters

#Scallops: I'm old enough to remember the#CodWars with#Iceland: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cod_Wars -
So
@The_PPete, henceforth I shall think of you as persistent Methuselah

-
:-D I'm not that old! Just feel it, nowadays, every time I see a young person :-( xxx

I knew what you meant persistant Methuselah ,
& i know what you mean, i think.
However, im never sure of much of anything anymore, & wonder if perhaps its my Scots humour thats misunderstood
or perhaps its just me

-
:-) Oh, no problem, June: I understood what you meant. My tweet in response was not well-worded. I am well-aware of the Scottish sense of humour, which is very similar to the Geordies :-) xx
