"3.7 million people voted for us last Thursday. Under a proportional voting system we would now easily be the 3rd largest party in this house, with 70 MPs." MPs who jeer at remarks like this are really jeering at the voters silenced by our broken electoral system.

The Liberal Democrat vote share doubled and we are now second in many more seats than we were before the last election. We can come back strong. We need to focus on protecting Liberal values and holding Boris Johnson and his government to account. -

14/ Learning the lessons requires surveying the evidence. Had I known the anti-Corbyn stuff would be a force multiplier, sending 300k Labour Remainers to the Tories, the conclusion in May would have been: switch leaders. This has implications going forward...

Remain failed because of Corbyn. He didn’t campaign in 2016. He didn’t lead for remain after the May/Johnson deal collapsed, including this election. He put election before referendum. He wouldn’t agree Remain Alliance or stand aside for a unity govt Brexit is Corbyn’s legacy

Across the country dissatisfaction with our leadership and seeming incompetence were mentioned far, far more often by voters than Brexit. This is true in both Remain and Leave seats. So rather than blame Brexit, why not do the right thing and take ownership of this failure?

    3) if Labour had found the way to full Remain they could have joined the voices saying all versions were bad, there were no good Brexits. They could have spent 3 years saying Brexit was a right wing project But they couldn't,because they pretended *their* Brexit was good

We in probably spoke to more voters than any other CLP in this campaign. We have the data. Among every voting group the overwhelming negative for us was the leadership, not .

Suppose Labour had a Blairite leader willing to engage in electoral cooperation with other parties. It would have attracted the votes of moderate Tories. Electoral cooperation would have avoided FPTP problems. We would be looking at a very different result.
