what happens if they don't comply my man? what happens if they simply walk away? The presence of a firearm is always the implicit threat of murder, you can't get around that.

Well that's the risk a person takes if they decide to first commit a crime and then resist arrest for the crime. The law cannot be enforced without severe consequences if it is not followed, or else no one will follow it, and there will be social chaos that results in violence.

Question for you : if you find me stealing your car and you don't have the physical ability to stop me but you have a weapon, should you use the weapon to stop me or should you let me steal your car ?

I'm sorry to hear you don't think a life is worth more than a car. Turn that question around: if you needed a car, and I offered you one if you killed someone, would you do it? Or would you value a life higher than a car?

Recognize also that most crimes are not committed out of need but out of want. In today's world nearly all needs are satisfied, there are countless products and services available to fulfill all needs. Some are free and some have to be paid for, which is an impetus for working.

But criminalactivity is aimed at possessingmore than what one needs, but rather what one wants and cannot afford. Society has no obligation to give you at no cost what you want but cannot afford. It has an obligation to give you freely some of what you need - the safety net.

The bigger that safety net is, the less incentive for work and the faster the society descends into insolvency. Because what is given you freely is paid for by someone else, and you wind up running out of payers the more you incentivize takers.

This is why socialism fails, because the more you give people reasons not to work, the faster you run out of workers who can pay for all the free shit you're giving away. In short order, the society no longer can provide people what they even need and cannot afford.

Which means the bottom line for policy should always be to avoid programs that give for nothing, incentivize work by making people pay for what they need, and prevent crime with harsh penalties for taking what you want and is not yours.

Short of that, and you will put your society ona road where eventually no one will be able to get what they need even if they can afford it because producers no longer will be able financially to produce what society needs.

And we have seen this play out in numerous countries even during just the last 30 years. Russia was a good example in the early 90s, Argentina, Zimbabwe, and now Venezuela. The US is heading toward that cliff as well.
