Good take, but completely false though. Anyone somewhat knowledgeable on Tolkien’s life and work knows that affirmation is utter garbage. His desire for learning and his love for ancient languages and philology where the real engine in him.

The basis for the headline is Tolkien's comments in his letters and specifically discusses procrastinating from working on Beowulf (which, as you are aware, only published posthumously). Everyone procrastinated sometimes--even those who desire learning above all else.
