I've been re-reading the Dune series, and I saw an interesting criticism of the Dune movie that simply doesn't hold up if you've actually read the books:

The (really dumb) criticism, paraphrased: Dune 2021 is bad because it has too much equality for women, fremen societies men and women had their specific gender roles that were harshly enforced

The reality: Fremen were a society where there were surprisingly few gender differences. In Children of Dune, in fact, we see the "corruption" of the fremen way of life by the introduction of stronger gender roles

We also see this in Dune, where Stilgar is concerned that Jessica would challenge him for leadership of the Sietch, which implies that female sietch leaders are accepted

TL;DR, fake geek boy, did they even read the books
