I watched a Youtuber on the weekend playing a game and in the end he said that it was one of the best games he ever played, that he almost didn't buy it because of the reviews and that he feels like he played a different game than the reviewers. I can't stop thinking about it.
I wish reviewers would answer the question, "Who is this game for?" and recognize that there is a infinite # of 'gamer' profiles who all like different things. Unfortunately I've seen so many reviewers act like immature frat kids who if 'they' don't like it personally they pan it

The end result feels like a form of gate keeping, if a developer does not make a game for 'me' (a game reviewer) then I'm going to trash it so no more games like this are made. Instead of trying to help it find an audience. Which just makes me sad.
