makes sense. but "man" is gender neutral in many contexts (and in earlier versions of English was totally neutral) and nobody accepts that.

I don't think bubble wrapping every possible facet of life to protect those so fragile that 'you guys' hurts them is an improvement. At some point you really do just need to tell somebody to grow up.
Your lack of empathy and refusal to change, I’d argue is highlighting your own inability to grow up.

I think it's less about the desire to sanitize and more about trying to push back against the overwhelming status quo of a patriarchal society.
