Fair. It's not particularly user friendly. No tutorial, and no real guide, except for the unrelenting popup tips. It's one of those games you have to watch other people play, and do the "I wonder how they did that?" reverse engineer google search to figure it out.
It's really best, if you have a friend or guide walking you through the basics when you start. After that, it's much more enjoyable. There are many 'gotcha's' where there are bugs and often work-arounds that you might not know to try.

For example, in the Skyline 'star map' if you double click your right mouse button, it'll reset it to view the whole system. Sometimes you have to do that, because of the bad camera clipping where you can't see what you want to see.

Or after arriving at a planet, you can't actually quantum directly to your location, you have to jump to another local point first before it will register you're at that planet/hub.
