Lots of unspoken assumptions regarding play preference and what makes a game enjoyable going on regarding wilderness survival
Mine was an planned intentional tone shift. I wanted this new place, this jungle to be hard. For the Jungle to be the enemy at first. Then, as they learn what to do and how to survive, it becomes almost second nature and not a big deal.

I would have preferred for my RotF game to have worked out that way. Perhaps when I run ToA, I can pull it off better.
