Yuuuuuup. ND can mean story implementer. Can also mean writer, narrative systems designer, or content designer. Depends on the place. I guess at that point you have to rely on the job listing and ask tons of questions during the interview to know what you're getting into.

We have some of this confusion at our place. Our content designers do a lot of narrative design implementation. Our writer/nds do more VO pipeline stuff in addition to writing.

We have confusion at ours as well, but I think we're working towards creating more clarity. A dream at one point was that our tools would be so tailored/easy that a Writer could do all the implementation and be both a NCD and a Writer.

The reality is, even if you are a rare snowflake that can do both, the two skills are a completely different mindset. It takes time to transition from one to the other and it can really break the 'flow state'. It's better to have two people, a NCD and a Writer.
