You're entitled to your opinion. I'd opt out 100% if I could because I can invest and provide for my future much better than the damn govt, that's for sure.
Sure, but how may people are not as either educated or savvy as you? For many it's a lifeline. While I wish we taught more long term planning to people, I feel like there will always be those who fail to listen. This then becomes a safety net, one that is very effective.
