I applied for a job I know I'm qualified for, but it asks for unreasonable specific experience in a role I never occupied. I won't ever get it, but it felt like something I needed to do once in my life, before giving it up and complaining later for never even trying. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I try to remind myself that many of the lists of qualifications are 'desired/wish list' but depending on the ask, very few if any may actually have all of them. So it does not hurt to just toss your name into the hat to see what happens.
