Interactivity is an additional hindrance to storytelling, and doesn’t really help immersion at all. The best game storytellers did it with one hand tied behind their backs.
Have either of you tried Lone Echo (A VR Game on the Oculus Rift) I think it's possible to combine immersion and story telling (it's not easy and is a ton of work) but it can be done. I also disagree a bit Geoffery, you can use interactivity to pull people into the story.

No, but Oculus is owned by Facebook which means I will never own one.

It’s also playable with any steam VR headset using revive (software that lets steam users play Oculus games).

You CAN use it, but it’s hard, and it’s often more like trying to tell a story to a toddler using their toys, WHILE they’re playing their own separate game with the toys :) People can do it, but when they do it well, we should be extra impressed.
