A general bailout would be bad. A reimbursement for covid costs and one-year tax revenue losses would be reasonable and the formula could be subject to compromise

Imagine if a democrat said that bout, say, a tornado relief bill...."If it includes red state bail out money then that's a hard no."

Back in 2019, Republican lawmakers voted against financial aid for Florida and Texas after both states were hit by a hurricane. The bill passed the House and those who voted against it said politics was more important than helping other Americans.

If the blue states are short on money, seems like they have a green light to raise their own taxes - they voted for all that waste in the first place. That may be a lesson for us all as we vote in a couple weeks

Blue states? Is federal government assistance to Americans in need now predicated on partisan political shorthand? There are no blue states or red states -- there are 50 US states (plus DC & territories) with people with various political views and party affiliations.

Also, are the “blue states” going to include all the states that turn blue after the election?
