  1. Dem NJ Sen Booker: It takes enormous courage to come forward publicly as Ms. Ford has. The Senate owes it to her and every survivor of sexual trauma to listen to her story and gather all of the facts before moving forward with this nomination.

  2. Dem NJ Sen Booker: At a bare minimum, this week’s scheduled committee vote on Judge Kavanaugh’s lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court must be postponed until this matter is fully and thoroughly investigated.

  3. Blumenthal: Making a mockery of Ms. Ford’s wish for confidentiality or implicating her sobriety in her assault is far worse. These kinds of comments are despicable and deeply harmful – not just to one survivor, Ms. Ford, but to all survivors.

    Undo
  4. Blumenthal: I have been dismayed by my Republican colleagues’ callous dismissals of a sexual assault and the denigration of a survivor. Intimating that an assault is a mere political ploy..it reinforces dangerous preconceptions that shame survivors into silence

    Undo
  5. Dem CT Sen Blumenthal: The Senate Judiciary Committee must now give these allegations the serious weight they deserve. They must be fully and fairly investigated. Unquestionably, the Kavanaugh confirmation vote must be delayed.

    Undo
  6. Dem RI Sen Whitehouse: Kavanaugh’s blanket denial cannot be reconciled with her specific recollections, and the FBI needs time to take proper witness statements. Lying to an FBI agent in a formal interview is a crime, and an impeachable offense.

    Undo
  7. Dem RI Sen Whitehouse: I admire the courage Ms. Ford has shown in coming forward with her story. This requires a pause, at a minimum, in the unseemly, special-interest-funded rush to put Brett Kavanaugh on the Court.

    Undo
  8. Dem HI Sen Hirono on Kavanaugh allegation: This development is yet another reason not to rush Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination. The Committee should postpone this week’s vote.

    Undo
  9. Hirono on Kavanagh allegation: As I said during the hearing, this is why the movement is so important, because often in these situations, there is an environment where people see nothing, hear nothing, and say nothing. That is what we have to change.

  10. Judiciary Cmte mbr HI Dem Sen Hirono: It took a lot of courage for Christine Blasey Ford to come forward to share her story of sexual assault by Brett Kavanaugh. Her story is very credible and I believe her.

    Undo
  11. Judiciary Cmte GOPers: Kavanaugh and others alleged to have been involved have unequivocally denied these claims from their high school days. The Cmte..received letter after letter from those who’ve known judge Kavanaugh personally..speaking to his impeccable character

    Undo
  12. Judiciary Cmte GOPers: Judge Kavanaugh’s background has been thoroughly vetted by the FBI on six different occasions throughout his decades of public service, and no such allegation ever surfaced.

    Undo
  13. Judiciary Cmte GOPers on Kavanaugh allegations: “Senator Feinstein should publicly release the letter she received back in July so that everyone can know what she’s known for weeks.”

    Undo
  14. Judiciary Cmte GOPers on Kavanaugh allegations: “It raises a lot of questions about Democrats’ tactics and motives to bring this to the rest of the committee’s attention only now rather than during these many steps along the way.”

    Undo
  15. Judiciary Cmte GOP on Kavanaugh allegations: “If Ranking Member Feinstein and other Committee Democrats took this claim seriously, they should have brought it to the full Committee’s attention much earlier. Instead, they said nothing of those discussions.”

    Undo
  16. Judiciary Cmte GOP on Kavanaugh: “It is disturbing that these uncorroborated allegations from more than 35 years ago, during high school, would surface on the eve of a committee vote after Democrats sat on them since July.”

    Undo
  17. schuner: Judge Kavanaugh’s credibility has already been seriously questioned because of his answers..and now his credibility is even more suspect. To railroad a vote now would be an insult to the women of America and the integrity of the Supreme Court

    Undo
  18. Schumer on Kavanaugh: Senator Grassley must postpone the vote until, at a very minimum, these serious and credible allegations are thoroughly investigated. For too long, when woman have made serious allegations of abuse, they have been ignored. That cannot happen in this case.

    Undo
  19. Schiff on Russia transcripts: The Chairman is again promising to release the transcripts. We hope this time he will follow through on his commitment by scheduling a business meeting immediately and allowing a new vote to release all the transcripts.

    Undo
  20. Feinstein: I support Mrs. Ford’s decision to share her story, and now that she has, it is in the hands of the FBI to conduct an investigation. This should happen before the Senate moves forward on this nominee.
