Most engineering/planning was done by individuals who despised the notion of community, architectural beauty, & local control. The cental planners thought their lifeless Brutalist planning would bring the new dawn of order.

For the past 24 hours Mike's been pushing any other story than the one everyone else is talking about. Why our president would invite the Taliban to Camp David in the week of 9/11.
-
To save lives and end a war that’s been going on since 9/11? What do you want - to commerate by carpet bombing?

Cincinnati has had solid Democratic mayorality since 1971, coming up to fifty years of rule, except for a few (six) "Charters" who individually served two and three year terms with no succession, interspersed from time to time. Hard to blame Trump for this. Or credit him.
-
Progressive Republicans also bought into the hubris that they could plan the cities of the future. The Romney and Rockefeller types were right at the front.

Very good place for a commercial hub. Like a video game. All green numbers for placing one there

I mean, do you really expect a city that has 2 horrible pro teams, The Bengals and The Reds (current fan of both sadly), to know what progress is?

That's not the half of it. City of Cincy invested in an underground subway system but gave up on the project just as they were about to finish. Millions in taxpayer dollars wasted. You can see this for yourself on an episode of

It’s progressive because a lot of cheap affordable housing in neighborhoods centered on churches & synagogues w/mom&pop businesses were destroyed to build it. Big government needs big business & v-v. Both love big labor. None of the three care for independent citizenry.
-
IOW, progressives zoned out ‘urban blight’ to make the modern planned cities. The cities of the future. If you think Cincinnati is bad, see Detroit.

It’s a traffic flow problem. Civil engineers design roadways to accommodate more efficient transportation of resources. Think about if your blood vessels were organized in a grid. Nature often shows us the best way.
