College athletes should be paid the fair market value that their skills and talents bring. Only socialists disagree.

I agree with this. I also think they should use the money they earn to pay for their degrees.

Even better would be if schools allowed them to make their own money via social media, endorsements, selling their own merch, etc.

Scholarship for athletes ok .... paying them not sure it’s a good idea. I’m certainly not a Marxist

Um, no. Many colleges rely heavily on taxpayer dollars. Taxpayers should not have to fund salaries for college athletes. Can you imagine how out of control that could get???

Exactly. What is even the market?

Can’t be determined. Anyone who thinks they can set the market value of an 18 year old is a self absorbed jack wagon. Some kids aren’t highly recruited coming out of HS and become early draft picks out of unheralded college programs. Khalil Mack and Carson Wentz are examples.

If you think the young men at schools in the major conferences that are in television every weekend aren’t all ready getting paid above and beyond the scholarship, you’re out of your mind.

This is a tough one. Part of me agrees with you. The NCAA makes a ridiculous amount of $$ off these kids’ skills. But a great many do get “paid” in the form of scholarships. With the exorbitant cost of tuition, that has to be factored in.

My son is graduating with a degreee and 2 job offers as a student athlete. When my husband passed away, I made sure both of our kids would graduate debt free using my husbands life insurance policy.
