The huge flaw at the start of the piece is, "gun deaths". 2/3 of these are suicide. Japan, for comparison, has strict gun control and twice our suicide rate.

we use this logic all the time with cars. it is physically possible to make all cars "death proof" with extremely advanced technology but we currently dont have such tech and in turn we allow for a number of deaths in the mean time this is the same as with guns. there is a number
