Background checking every name that is dropped requires effort and most people are going about their lives expecting that elected officials will do the checking for them. That system is broken.

Well ok. I agree with your overall point, and they did inflate Mattis' resignation in the media, but Mattis himself is a really big deal and a really awesome dude. Definitely an elite, class-A badass and all around fantastic leader.

Same goes for the entire MSM. Just a buncha journo/poly-sci majors that haven't built anything useful in their lives other than a well rounded paragraph and harbor nothing but contempt for those that do produce real goods and services.

People are just people. I like Mattis. No one is irreplaceable in a job though.
