We homeschool. Barely did anything the first 6 years. Was second-guessing myself, thinking they should be further along. Then they "switched on" and *wanted* to learn stuff.

My son is a good athlete - so there was all this pressure to do the right things, training, school travel team. His coach told me “you have to want it with them not for them” totally took changed my perspective and took the pressure off.

Yep. They grow up into what THEY want to be. That may or may not coincide with your expectations.

For me, the difficulty in parenting arose as a result of severe vaccine injury in my two vaccinated babies...

I never got bothered by any of that, but the first time some older kid was being mean to my daughter at the playground I nearly lost my mind. I didn’t do anything and she didn’t seemed that bother by it. I tried talking to her about it, but she just told me how much fun she had

I’m 14 years into parenting, what I have learned is that you just have to be secure with the decisions that you make for the sake of your children. What works for someone else’s children may not necessarily work for your children.

This is 100% correct. Parents who feel they are not doing a good enough job or constantly measuring their child's development by other children will end up screwing there kid up. Make slow, calm and pragmatic decisions. Let them get dirty and pee in the potty when they're ready.

This morning my eight-month old finished writing her novel and then said to me “I’m not sure whether to accept the invitation to play at Carnegie Hall or to go to Sweden to accept my Nobel Peace Prize.” I wasn’t sure how to respond!

An interesting study I saw a few years ago is the older the kid is now the earlier the mother says he walked. Memory and ego working together.

One of mine has a learning disability due to exposure to meth as a baby, but the kid is an athlete. He's charming and can sell you anything. I've adopted the philosophy of letting education strengthen what they do well and oh well with the rest. My boys are on their own path

Never stops... So and so's kid did such and such, why is my kid so far behind.... Must be me.... Nonsense.! Fortunately I have 3 well balanced successful children that I taught, they are not entitled to anything, but have great opportunity to many things, if they take it.
