Odds are that people starting college now will graduate during a recession. It would be smarter to wait tables, read books, and save up cash while the economy is good. Then wait out recession in college with a fistful of cash saved up.https://twitter.com/Cernovich/status/1164332456780025856 …

Beta males always try to nit pick me and I block them. I grew up digging through trash cans for aluminum to sell for scrap value. Odds that you know more about success or the struggle than me - low!

Serving allows you to develop exceptional people skills & patience. If you’re an elite server in Miami there are shifts I would walk out with $60-$80/hour easily.

Waiting tables, tending bar. I’ve done both and learned a lot about hustle, building rapport, interacting with people of all “levels,” and human nature. Throw in some honest sweaty manual labor (baling straw and landscaping, in my case)… Essential education.

I waited tables the entire time I was in college, 5 years and then again 5 years later getting my teaching credential. Great way to make money; I loved it- hustle, energy, fun environment and loved working hard for those good tips

Waiting tables exposes the ugly in some ppl that claim to be nice. When I did it, I can say 60% were straight a-holes for no reason. Every now and then you get the over demanding & demeaning guest that tips good at the end. Or really great regs who always tip great.

That’s a job you either love or hate. I miss it. Hard work but made great friends. Almost as good of friends as I made while serving in the military.

Closest I came was either cashiering at a supermarket during a rush, or perhaps having to man the phones at a retail electronics store. I'm sure that somebody could provide a comparison. I'm guessing it was just hectic for me b/c those aren't physically demanding as well.
