It’s been a massive run. Hard to see how today’s incoming freshman class does not graduate into a recession. Makes more sense to work now, attend college during next down cycle.https://twitter.com/todayinpol/status/1164333404244140032 …

Recessions have occurred every 7-8 years on average dating back to 1945. We're going on 10 years since the end of the last one. The odds of there not being a recession in the next 4 years are low.

Lots of good reasons to work before and during college. I did and it was essential to starting my career. Graduated in a recession (2001), started a company in a recession (2009). No reason to plan your life around recessions when you’re young and flexible.

LEARN A TRADE like electrical, plumbing, carpentry BEFORE "going to college". While you make $ working, you can pay for college without a loan.

Timing this seems even harder than timing the market. For example, the same reasonable advice could have been given 4 years ago, when we were at the avg. run length of an expansion. But those graduating in the last year or 2 are in good shape.

There was a massive economic depression under Obama papered over by deficit spending on a scale never seen before. We are only just starting to come out of this. Though nobody can predict the economy. I've learned that the hard way

I once heard about a big producer that would just go on vacation when shit was slow and not really worry about it. Everyone would be sweating it out at the office for no reason. May as well play the cycle.

The problem is so many people try to speak it into existence that they end up brainwashing the populace into a self willed and self fulfilling prophesy.. Everyone is so jaded and damaged from 2008 that the slight hint of a natural slowdown makes the chicken littles run..

I've never seen any advantage to waiting to get your degree. If you wait you may have kids, and its much harder to do with kids. But if you're not cut out for college - and if you're honest with yourself you know - go into a trade. Electricians, plumbers, etc. do very well

I graduated into a recession.. unemployment was 8-9%, interest rates were 11% and buying gas meant sitting in a line around the block. I didn’t have any money to buy CoDs or invest. Really didn’t know how bad it was until many many years later.

Exactly. The problem being is with an economic downturn that is prior to reelection it won’t matter what they do. They will be sucked into government titty.

Some people think economies aren't cyclical. Recessions don't have to happen. They happen when an economy overheats. So long as the growth is properly managed, a recession can be avoided.

You can go through more than 10 years without a recession as long as you have a reason to grow. Look at Australia.
