Everyone should wait tables for a year. Most crack and can’t handle it.

Beta males always try to nit pick me and I block them. I grew up digging through trash cans for aluminum to sell for scrap value. Odds that you know more about success or the struggle than me - low!

Trades are where the bucks and the security are at - plenty of time for reading books when you’re sitting on 6 figures for painting cars or installing HVAC ...

My 20 year old son graduated HS and immediately started his own house cleaning business instead of going to college. Two years in, he’s booked up and now considering employees...

That is a great success story..small businesses are the drivers of our economy..keep encouraging him ...

Smarter still would be to work and do online college while making money and gaining experience.
-
Online college defeats the purpose of having college.
-
isn't a degree the purpose?
-
Probably not the main purpose. The purpose would be to receive an education and improve oneself. The degree is merely a piece of paper that says you did it. Economically, it might be worth something, but even that is debatable.

Taking classes at Community College for 2 years while working nights as a waiter, bartender or bouncer Is a smart way to go

I disagree. Kids in their late teens and early 20s don't make enough money to save fistfuls of cash (unless they live with their parents). I had a degree in my early 20s and I didn't make shit until after I went to law school.

If you even need to go to college by that point. You might develop skills and relationships to the point that you don't need to put your life on hold for a piece of paper.

I showed this to my daughter and I think it cinched her decision to take a gap year. Then next year, enter the OTA program at community college, transfer to state school ot program-get bachelors in 2 more then Masters in 2. This is the most economical way.
-
Otherwise it would be four years of a different Bachelors degree at same state school and 3 years for Masters in OT.

Under the assmption the cost of college remains relatively unchanged & retirement ages in both scenarios the same. This is very poor advice. You're asking people to trade waiting tables revenue for the loss of peak income years on the back end of their careers. Poor advice

If a recession strikes, it could kill the dollar. May be better to build skills!
