  My God, you are so correct. I was so excited at my first job out of college because people would be grownups. What a joke that turned out to be. It was worse than high school, because the stakes were so much higher. People get fired over this nonsense.

  Same. I’m still disappointed by this realization. High school was miserable. I was naively comforted by the prospect of things getting better, only to realize that the system actually gets worse. At least high school power and social dynamics are localized and controllable.
