This can be true- as with the drug and alcohol abusing individuals I’ve known, but also not true, for those who have fallen on unexpected hard times. Just be smart.

Middle age people didn't have the benefit of social media in their early days. Keeping contact meant address books, Rolodex, birthday cards, etc. Not middle age but really wish I kept in contact with people from the pre internet days.

ive disassociated my self from my entire family. sad. But im very grateful at the same time. There is a huge overwhelming Entitlement issues running deep in our country. People are completely delusional. I believe this is the same disease the roman empire felt before its fall

Well, you can do that. But that’s not how God loves. So, respectfully, I’m w/God. My good deeds are about who I am. I don’t weigh them w/anything but love. And generalizations are poison. I also help ppl out of the abyss as part of my work w/clients. It’s never too late. Peace.

or they've out lived both their family, and their usefulness once they were no longer in the position to help everyone else out. not everyone is blessed with young parents. and not everyone has siblings. bear that in mind as you make blanket statements.

Have to respectfully disagree: there are always going to be people upstream and folks downstream...regardless of age, if someone reaches for your hand, be wise, practice self care and good boundaries, and give them a hand - you never know when you'll need one yourself.

Personal freedom comes with personal responsibility.

Help them help themselves.

You’re wrong on this one man, I’ve made lots of friends older than myself and sometimes there is a “catch” but don’t we all have something going on? Everyone’s just doing the best they can.

Sometimes you are only good as long as you are useful. When the money dries up and health issues are serious, you get to see how fast they clear out. And sometimes you just know people that bite the hand that helps......
