We should design society around a fundamental belief that human nature is prone towards excess. This is why one should not support socialism or Koch brothers style exploitative capitalism. Koch brothers want dog collars around your childrens' necks. Socialists want gulags.

You are sounding like the founders of the United States. They gave us a Republic designed to resist human nature. We’ve obviously made changes that harmed the design. Maybe we can return to the design someday.

Nature itself has built-in resistances against excess. Most things operate under a log scale. There’s no giant insects because their structure would collapse under the laws of physics if they were scaled up.

Also, look at strength training. The more you want to lift, the more exponential strength you gotta exert. It’s why there’s a limit to how much we can lift no matter how strong we get: it gets harder and harder.

Human-made systems tend to operate on inverse log scales: The more you have of something, the easier it is to get more. And the less you have, the harder it is. Money, women, power, etc. We reward excess and punish scarcity. Should be the opposite.

Exploitative capitalism is almost always the result of government involvement Crony capitalism Government forced monopolies Revolving door issue Biased regulations Minimum wage law Guaranteed loans Restrictions on drug price negotiation And so on

The desire to design society, is immoral. We should all simply live our lives, and ignore anyone who has a plan for someone else.

This is the quagmire we end up w/ by allowing extremism to fester & flourish. The US used 2 B a centrist nation that leaned to the left or right depending on the parties that took the WH & held majority in Congress. Groupthink on both sides has eroded prior, solid middle ground.

Wasn't that called the Constitution? The thing we really need to fight is the Iron Law of Oligarchy and the Four Turnings (which admittedly are the result of reactive excesses of various sorts). AI will put a stop to all that, but will regard us as pets or pests. #BetOnPests
