Our society promotes drug use, we give them needles, we give them money, we give them housing, BUT we do not give them a spiritual way to fill that void in their hearts. People need a purpose in life and need to feel valued. The enabling of drug use is killing generations.

I’ve asked a lot of homeless this question over the years. Some are offended by the question. Some have the wildest stories, used to be stock broker’s, etc. One guy actually blamed govt housing for enabling his parents’ addictions.

I lost my brother in-law to a mix of untreated mental illness, alchohol and drugs. He refused the help he desperately needed for all three. Not sure what can be done for people like him.

Late 2008: the already-bad economy takes a dive for the far worse. People get bounced paychecks, one job after another. Many become homeless & hopeless. California does about the worst job of any state at recovery. Those attempting to self-employ get stomped out by government.
