When I was little, a waterbed was one of the things I was positive I would own as an adult. It wasn't even negotiable.

... got one in 98...OH YEAH! Shortly after, the cat clawed it. Was the biggest mess ever. Never again would I ever own one of those again... or a waterbed for that matter..... - End of conversation

Every lease I've ever signed has had a subsection particularly banning them because of property damage. Millennial/Gen Z renters can't have them, hard to sell them to boomers who've gotten a bit old for them to be interesting.

I really miss my waterbed! Turn the heater off for a nice cool bed in the summer & on in the winter for some toasty warm goodness! I also miss being a 19 year old bachelor. You can never go back

Could no longer sleep in mine.... my husband out weighed me to much. I had to sleep on a hump or wedged in between the mattress and side rail or wedged between him and the mattress
