        It's probably been bad debt for a while. For financial purposes, though, they didn't want to write it off since they lose an asset and probably hadn't properly reserved all of it. Chase'll take a one time hit to earnings and the balance sheet, blame it on China, then move on.

        They wanted to pull completely out of the Canadian market full stop. No negotiating and they said it would be cheaper to just forgive it. Trust me not a lot of chase cards here. .

        I've been on the road to credit recovery for a bit now, I haven't had more than 1 CC for a long time. I wish this came along for me 4 years ago. There stock is still strong. -0.11% on the day. Guess well see what happens Monday. TBH I don't know anyone with a Chase Card Up Here.
