Smaller nations are the future. 5 million in New Zealand; and 25 million in Australia. The US is too large and ungovernable.https://twitter.com/JonHaidt/status/1159618820904017920 …

I just returned from three weeks in Australia and New Zealand. What sane, successful countries, with normal politics. How sad to return to my country, where tragedies now divide us in predictable ways, disrupting mourning and preventing solutions.

Well, ideally we're supposed to be a country of states. A federal republic. The federal government isn't supposed to be this big & powerful.

The US is composed of states which have surrendered their sovereignty for other states' money. This is the future of the EU and globalism. States need to reassert their sovereignty and we can become governable.

The US stopped being a voluntary union in the mid 19th century. It stopped resembling the American nation when they changed the immigration laws to let anyone in. Smaller nations are absolutely the future, and all we can hope for is the transition to be as peaceful as possible.

Smaller, sure, but homogenous nations has to be the key. Plenty of large nations remaining unified due to this

I mean that's kinda what federalism is supposed to be. We've gone far away from that but it was the original plan.

I would have put it another way. Looking at the USSR collapse ....Balkanization is inevitable. California, Idaho, and Texas are nations into themselves.
