In a proper criminal justice system, you prosecute those in the best position to deter the underlying behavior. People making $12 an hour aren’t the problem. Owners who use near-slave labor are the ones who should be targeted in these raids.

It's how our government goes after pedophiles, they don't expose and lock up the big dogs who fund the op they throw small dogs under the bus, meanwhile the pedo ring continues on...almost as if its by design meanwhile they say look...look what we good guys did to protect you

Every employed illegal means that there is a fraudulent or non-filed W-4, which is 100% the responsibility of the employer. We simply need to enforce existing law.

mike- i'm interested, what laws are on the books- and what penalties are available? i only ever hear of fines to companies, nothing criminal. I'm wondering, what ramifications companies are avoiding by just paying fines?

It's already a criminal offense if they can establish a pattern of behavior. They just need to actually enforce the law and make examples of them.

The people in the best position to deter the behavior are in Congress. They refuse to address the situation. Why should we hold businesses more accountable than elected officials who refuse to pass tougher laws and enforce the ones we have.

Targeted, yes. But you still have to remove the illegal workers regardless. There’s no way around it under current immigration law. The employers are most definitely the evil party in all of this.

I bet it could work if corporations had better tax write offs to prevent this behavior of illegitimate employees. For every person contributing to taxes, the corporation should be rewarded. It would be an incentive to hire the right way if it's worth it. @realDonaldTrump

So much this! Make the pay the fines for the undocumented workers. Up to $20k a piece. Soon it won’t look like cheap labor. Add in misreported IRS and SSA documentation.

I see some pretty pissed off people in our future. Legal workers will demand more $ and increasing demand for humanely produced animal products will mean $$$$. Lower income people are going to be priced out of meat.

IF there were any journalists interested in getting all the facts rather than promoting agendas then questions would be answered that never get answered. How about things like identity fraud, pay under the table, tax evasion, EITC claims, benefits fraud etcetera.
