The decline in population in mental hospitals is inversely proportional to the increase in prison population at the time.

Why did we close the mental health institutions? Why are so many people on anti-depressant/ anxiety drugs? Remember the Sandy Hook shooter...his mom couldn’t get him institutionalized b/c of his “rights.”

Remember “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”? Feel-good leftist filmmaking based on a radical’s novel that contributed to dumping millions of mentally ill people onto our streets. It worked for a few. Most are still there.

I’ve been saying this for years!!! It is fact, and we need to reopen institutions.

Because the people complained about institutionalizing them. I've worked DMH 32 years.

The online communications of the suspect should be examined for radicalization. Did anyone encourage or promote this attack? Was he coached in any way?

Go back to Williowbrook on Long Island. Geraldo Rivera did an story there. It was awful. But instead of fixing it we threw the baby out with the bath water and now they are jail and on the streets.

Unfortunately many of these shooters fly under the radar with their mental health problems, and don’t have family or other connections to get them help before they go over the edge.

Need more housed on State Farm’s... but Patients need ombudsmen for due process, protection of rights and connection to volunteers willing to share in the care.

Murderers don’t care about consequences. Even if all guns are banned point blank, a murderer will find a way to access whatever he/she needs to murder.

Mental illness no one wants to address - just make it a left or right issue

It couldn’t be our inability to defend our national sovereignty. No that would make way to much sense.

The Community Mental Health Act of 1963 effectively shut down inpatient/long term mental health facilities.
