Mike- why isn't student debt fraud talked about more? I'm glad you mention it and you're one of the very few media ppl who talk about it. This kind of thing is rampant in expensive cities like NYC where hip millennials finance their lifestyle under the guise of student loans.

I chose not to go to college because of my financial situation and worked as a helper for a plumbing company at 16. I learned the trade and now I work as a plumbing mechanic. Colleges are taking advantage but if you signed up for it and agreed to the terms then too bad for you.

Her degree(s) were no more than $100k She probably lived off of $200k for her entire time in university. The rest is probably interest and penalties.
-
She could have just printed out a certificate made in photoshop for those degrees and she would have been just as useful to society.
-
But then she could spend around to living like a trust fund baby for about a decade.

The student is equally at fault. She was aware of the growing debt and continued to sign promissory notes every year as they were placed in front of her. Did she think they were “fake” legal documents?

The source of the fraud is federal student loan program which disconnects tuition rates from any supply demand fundamentals by providing an unlimited supply of federal loan funding to colleges allowing them to charge whatever price they want because USGovt is paying their bill.

As if she didn’t know! Bastyr is $26,000 per semester and it’s in San Diego where the loving ain’t cheap. With her financial ignorance, I’m surprised she qualified for the program

Per Bastyr’s website, total tuition and fees for both degrees is <$250K. 8 years later her debt is double that?

Yeah, well, both Naturopathy and Acupuncture are dubious at best. It's like studying astrology... Learn To Code!
