I thought in America we care about the consumers? Businesses need to work on their business models. Just raise prices if you’re not making money.

Not sustainable at all, charging 30%+ it not only eats into the margin but takes the whole margin away. Double dipping springs to mind as the customer is also charged. Reminds me of an old quote that the only ppl who made the money in the goldrush were those selling the shovels

I wouldn't think they were supposed to. I would think they get paid the menu price of the food they prepare, and the delivery company gets paid the delivery fee. Is this an incorrect assumption?

Delivery is the next huge growth platform for the restaurant business, drone delivery is next. Partnering w/Uber is easiest, biggest customer base but convenience isn’t free. Offset costs w/pricing if Uber is your platform. Unprofitable isn’t sustainable.

I find the statement of these "chefs" not making money because of uber-eats a bit ridiculous. What difference does it make who picks up the food, either way the restaurant's product is being sold.
-
Hamburgers weren’t meant to be delivered-the margins aren’t there. Uber eats, like Uber, is siphoning off of low margin businesses. Much of tech is now rent seeking.

Deliver your own stuff instead of waiting on Uber eats? Clearly the people want this convenience. Provide it or go out of business when the next Bezos comes around.

Most restaurants aren't utilizing it correctly.

It also forces the restaurant staff to work harder and serve more customers for no extra pay- no one in a restaurant/kitchen ever receives any gratuity for the meals paid for through the app.
