The psychological effects of 4 years with cystic acne in high school far outweighed the powerful effects during the 6 months I was on Accutane. It's a powerful drug for sure, and more studies should be done to prove/disprove causation. But for me, I am grateful for taking it.

I have done everything except take Accutane. Nothing works. Diet, products, nothing. 33 now - I'd kill to not have to wear makeup

My wife did Accutane as an adult. Was a miracle worker for her. Just had to get monthly blood tests for liver levels and also two forms of birth control. Everyone is different but maybe look into it.

I took it when I was in high school. Had the most terrifying night terrors and went off of it after a month or two. My night vision has never been the same and my lips are always chapped (no matter the weather or if I have chapstick or not).

I took it in high school. It was awesome. Never had any of the issues that they refer to in the article. The embarrassment of acne was gone though.

If you have light to moderate acne. 1. Cotton ball with witch hazel and 8 to 10 drops of tea tree oil, morning and evening. 2. Learn to use face peels.

Mike I had to do two rounds of Accutane as teenager. These mental side effects are like they say for everyone. Was well worth it. And blood draws I didn’t even have to do on second round due to handing no metabolic side effects first time. And my blood draws were never weekly

I took it 3 times my acne was so bad. It has some side effects but the soul crushing depression and embarrassment my severe acne caused me was far worse. I couldn't look people in the eye- I used to stand in the shadows so the light wouldn't shine on my face. Nightmare.

Diet has been the biggest change I have seen in people. Get rid of sugar and carbs and skin clears up almost instantly. Its amazing to watch.

I took Accutane for several months during high school, and it really screwed with my mental state. It's better to suffer from bad acne for a couple of years then to take this.

I can give you for free a good medicine to your acne: ear wax. Just put a finger inside your ear and apply to the acne, you will see the results soon. Don't do that if you are going to be under the sunshine
