When my 2y/o daughter was sick with cancer we watched poor families show up and never come back. They took their children home to die because they couldn't pay for treatment. Contrast that with the families we got to know because they had good jobs with good insurance.

  Social Workers should be more proactive with these families. Medicaid, hospital charity or catastrophic write offs are much needed. Thank you Mike for putting this issue out there!!

  ERs in urban/suburban areas flooded with homeless and pain medication seeking addicts. Children and old people dying from hospital injuries/illness. Even when the system "works" it's still a nightmare. This is the true face of America's healthcare. All band aids and no cures.

  Screw it, deregulate and innovate. Unleash unfettered tech at it. I don't care if that makes people that have corporatist welfare (yes, welfare) health insurance uncomfortable by shattering the status quo and FDA guarantees. Imagine healthcare cheaper by a factor of 5 - 10.
